EC & Cloth Diaper Update
A few hours after I published the last post, her poo changed from a mustard or cake icing consistency to a Guinness beer consistency. (Oh come on! All parents know that you have to be able to compare poo to food!!) Anyway, we have had a number of misses. She went from a once every six days schedule to a 2-3 times a day schedule.
She is actually wearing diapers at home once in awhile much to my dismay. We have always used prefold diapers underneath Bianca but not on Bianca. She stays nakey butt which is critical to our EC success. I found that keeping her in diapers decreased my catch percentage so dramatically that I am going back to nakey butt unless I am certain that I will not be able to respond to her needs (like when I am putting Brielle to bed).
Bianca also wore her first (and I hope her last) disposable diaper on Monday when we were out with grandma and Brielle for Christmas portraits (almost a month late) and I neglected to bring a spare cloth along. Sigh.
The most dramatic development of all is that I actually had to change my first dirty diaper since Bianca was born. Horizontal diaper change, dirty diaper, wet wipes – the whole deal. Not bad for a six and a half week old baby I know but hey, I am spoiled.
It just gives me more incentive to make the EC work.

We EC, but I wasn’t good at it early on. Newborns are just too floppy for me. But once she could sit up on her own, the ECing went great! Yay potties!

We EC too, but it’s difficult sometimes. Yes, you have to compare poo to food, makes it interesting

This is interesting! Comparing it to food!
Glad to know that you are not squimish to it. Its interesting that you are using something close to bumware cover. But not all cloth diapers are bulky, came across baby elements where the cloth diaper is prefold with lining inserts.
Pretty useful when the catch is missed.
What is your opinion on those advertised as 100% unbleach egyptian cotton for cloth diapers. Do you think it is way too expensive?
