I am a feminist, humanist, lactivist, intactivist, breastfeeding, babywearing, cosleeping, EC and cloth diapering, unvaccinating, unassisted childbirthing, unschooling, going green, simple living, animal loving, entrepreneur, retail store owner, unmarried mother of two incredible girls and I coudn't be happier.
After we were done with our coatracks, we had lots of jewels leftover. We bought a couple of organic pumpkins and a bag of feathers and made a couple of less than traditional pumpkins.
The girls and I had a quiet Easter Sunday. We were alone for most of the day since my mom had to work but my parents stopped by after church for the egg hunt and we had dinner with my dad at night. Brielle had a wonderful time and even got up at 2am to chow on candy. I am either going to throw it out or lock it up.
Brielle on Easter
Oops – I hid the poor easter bunny in direct sunlight and it melted off his face.
Next time you are ready to dye some eggs, check out these eco friendly ideas first. Skip the chemicals and artificial colors, which according to Crunchy, Domestic Goddess, are linked to tumors and hives.
In addition, the use of food based dyes gives incredible, earthy results as opposed to the neon, artificial colors of store bought kits.
I am not a particularly craftsy person. In fact I hate doing arts and crafts. I can think of a zillion things I would rather do and in my pre-child days I would have taken bamboo shoots up the fingernails over scrapbooking (I probably still would).
Needless to say, like most kids, Brielle loves this stuff (and we are all shocked at the lengths we will go to please our little ones). A few years ago I picked up some Easter egg kits after the holiday and we did one last year and one this year and we have two more to go for future Easter activities.
Glitter Easter Eggs Circa 2008
[caption id="attachment_729" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Easter Bunny House circa 2009"][/caption]While I found these to be a gigantic pain in the ass, Brielle enjoyed decorating them and on the bright side, we can reuse them to decorate in the years ahead and mercifully I wont ever have to do the same eggs again.
Yes I know it is February. We got a late start on our semi-annual portraits because of the timing of Bianca’s birth. Then the babymoon and the out of town trip when she was 3 weeks old threw a spanner in the works. Anyway, here they are. I don’t have the time or energy to sort through them for the best ones so I am embedding the entire slideshow of our wonderful little family.
This is going to be a huge post but I prefer for my favorite photos to have a home on the blog as well as Flickr to make it easier to take a walk back in time. These are in no particular order because I just added them as I found them.
Grandma, Grandpa and all the grandkids (more…)
Christmas was great this year. Grandma and grandpa went out of town and almost did not make it back in time for Christmas but they did and we had a nice quiet Christmas together.
Ballet outfit from Uncle Adam. Brielle loves it and wears it constantly. (more…)
Call me crazy but I love this playlist. Anything with Cartman and Elvis on the same list has got to be good. Find it at the bottom of the blog and remember that suggestions are always welcome.
I am a single work at home mompreneur to two delightful daughters. I am also a domestic violence and birth trauma survivor which has permanently altered my world view and made me the activist I am today. Sometimes I think I am the luckiest woman in the world.
